As a child, I wanted to become a fashion designer, but never had the guts to pursue this dream. It took me almost 30 years and nearly a burn out to finally take a leap of faith and go for it. In 2016 I left my dream job at a multinational company, took a year off, to find something that I felt was missing deep down. In the streets of Barcelona I saw the sign leading me to my mentor, Pedro. I googled a few sentences I wanted to say in Spanish, knocked on his door and said, “Hi, my name is Valbona, I have a dream.”. Pedro smiled. That was the beginning of a wonderful friendship.
This is how the LOVE BRAND, VALBONA Leather was created. The first collection I dedicated to the people that had a big impact in the last years, my sister and best friends. This tradition is still carried on.
In 2017, my sister, Blerta joined the brand. Together we have created a label that is one of a kind. We bring very much thought in our designs, making our products not only eye candies, but also practical to adapt to everyday style.
Today, VALBONA Leather has become a brand that is also internationally recognized. Last year we attained third place at IDA – International Design Award for outstanding ideas and design of our WORKING MOM Handbag/Backpack. Our goal for the future is to keep on creating dreams, that last, thus making high quality products, that inspire.
Thank you for joining us on our journey and mission.
Valbona & Blerta
Since the birth of VALBONA Leather, we have been buying deadstock leather (remnants of leather). Deadstock leather is the material that goes unused by the mill or brand that fabricated it. It is remnants of leather from the best Italian luxury upholstery, leather goods factories and tanneries. This has enabled us to create unique bags and accessories. Which means each color of each bag and accessory model exists only in a limited edition and will not be produced in that exact color anymore.
We combine artistry and technology to create pieces of exceptional quality, leaving no waste behind. Our mission is to create timeless designs based on functionality and practicality. We work hard to lead and change the way premium handbags are produced. Starting from sourcing our materials, working with ethical producers and designing our handbags and accessories for long-life. Since the beginning, we have been buying deadstock leather (remnants of leather). Deadstock leather is the material that goes unused by the mill or brand that fabricated it. It is remnants of leather from the best Italian luxury upholstery, leather goods factories and tanneries. This has enabled us to use up leather that would actually have been destroyed.
In every step, we are committed to reducing waste from our manufacturing process. First and foremost we use up all the remnants of leather by creating small accessories like bracelets etc. We aim at selling all products we’ve ever produced, ensuring that none of our products are burned. We achieve this by producing our bags in limited quantities only. Moreover we stand against throwaway culture. Therefore we’re offering some of our almost gone pieces at an exclusive price. We believe in crafting high-quality, timeless pieces that are not discarded with every season’s fashion.
Handbags are a pure form of self-expression a signal for personal-style. Our beautifully crafted designs are inspired by strong women all over the world, they are inspired by you!
We handcraft designs to fit your lifestyle in every situation. Therefore, at VALBONA Leather we create models inspired to revolutionize hands-free mobility, combining utility with elegance. Our bags offer design features that will enhance your productivity and make your life beautifully simple! We’re on a mission to create unique bags to inspire women to celebrate themselves and their personal and professional journeys everyday.
Dedicated to upholding a positive environmental and social impact, we also work together with fellow designers by creating common projects to empower one another. Especially in the last months, having faced a global pandemic that paralyzed the economy, it was important to keep up the good vibes. Therefore we crafted common designs and photoshootings, creating new ways of working.
